Hi,
I should say something about the status of trying to make LCFG
installations more automated:
According to WP4, the populate-server RPM that was designed to
fill an LCFG server with RPM's from the repository is known to
be out of date and isn't the recommended way any more.
Instead, the advice is to manually use the list lcfg-server-rpm.h
to fill it (there is a copy at
http://install.gridpp.ac.uk/lcfg-HEAD/edg-release/rpmlist/lcfg-server-rpm.h
as well as the CVS on datagrid.in2p3.fr)
I've made some progress towards remote LCFG server installation, and you
can try it out at http://install.gridpp.ac.uk/lcfg-HEAD/ if you are
curious. (You just need a standard RedHat 6.2 bootnet.img install disk,
go through the network install as normal but give install.gridpp.ac.uk and
/lcfg-HEAD/ for the location of the RedHat directory. Choose Custom
install, but take the default set of packages, including "LCFG Server"
which now appears at the top. You get the basic RedHat onto which you
would install an LCFG server, along with the special EDG
rpm-3.05, updaterpms and openssh.)
I've tried various combinations but currently the above does NOT install a
working LCFG server since the updaterpms command fails due to conflicting
RPM's. I believe this is an inconsistency in the current HEAD of the CVS,
and I'm hoping to get to the bottom of it on Thursday.
There is an RPM gridpp-lcfg in
http://install.gridpp.ac.uk/lcfg-HEAD/RPMS-attic/ which contains (a
slightly expanded) version of Steve's createRepository.sh script and fixed
versions of the makefile's from populate-server, and when I get this
working, I will put that in the default installation off
install.gridpp.ac.uk so it installs that out of the box.
Is anyone else making progress with the current set of LCFG lists and
objects?
Cheers,
Andrew
