You are right here. My idea was to have as less as possible differences
to the original, and building a "starconf.m4" package would be quite
small (in fact, just installing this one file).
However, I now tried to extract the functions that were needed to
compile AST (as it is now, with the sla/Fortran linked in). Could you
have a look whether it looks as you would expect?
