Applications are invited for a senior postdoctoral position in the
Laboratory of Neuroimaging and Biomarker research led by Prof Harald Hampel
and colleagues located at the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience
(TCIN) and the Adelaide and Meath Hospital incorporating the National
Children’s Hospital (AMNCH) in Dublin, Ireland. The research group is an
international group with a strong research focus in brain imaging
(structural and functional) and in the area of biological based markers
(such as cerebrospinal fluid and blood- based).
The primary responsibilities associated with the position of an 3-year
government funded neuroimaging study on Alzheimer’s disease will be the
acquisition and analysis of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and
diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data in Alzheimer’s disease patients and
elderly persons. The challenge will be to extract both functional and
structural larg-scale neuronal network changes in AD.
We are looking for a person with a physics background and extensive
experience (3 or more years) with fMRI analysis and also should be familiar
with DTI analysis. Knowledge of at least one of the common analysis tools is
required (such as SPM, FSL, or AFNI etc) and ideally also experience in
developing analysis techniques. A biostatistical background including
multivariate statistics and learning algorithms, and programming skills
including MATLAB or similar languages are desirable. Experience working with
clinical populations would be a plus. The applicant should have a strong
research record including publications (relative to career stage), highly
motivated, and dynamic. Good communication and interpersonal skills are
required as well as an ability to work with a multidisciplinary team. We
are looking for someone to start the position immediately or by summer 2009
at the latest. This is a three year position with competitive salary
dependent upon the candidate’s experience. Trinity College Institute of
Neuroscience is a multi-disciplinary institute with excellent work
environment whose facilities include a Philips 3 T human scanner and a
Brucker 7 T animal scanner and extensive high performance computing
facilities.
Applications should be sent electronically. Please submit your CV with
publications, names and contact information of 3 referees to Dr Arun Bokde
at [log in to unmask] Screening of candidates will begin on March 1st, 2009
until a suitable candidate is identified. Trinity College Dublin is an equal
opportunities employer.
