Hi Kate,
In the Museum of Liverpool's collections we have a Coal-fired chip range used at 147 Rice Lane, Walton from 1925 to 1982. It has hand-painted tiles and copper edging.
It was believed to be the last coal-fired fryer operating in Liverpool.
Contact me directly if you need any further info.
thanks
Kay

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am trying to trace any coal fired or tiled fish and chip fryers that may be around the country as part of a survey. We have a tiled one, converted from coal to gas and simple coal one in the collection here. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who know of one of these gems either in a collection or even in use!
Thank you,
Kate
