The position at Bath is that doctoral students must submit a DMP as part
of their review at the end of the first year. As Kevin notes, we have a
template they can use, and we provide guidance to assessors on how to
evaluate plans that use that template. We rely on assessors checking
that this requirement has been met satisfactorily; we don't police this
from the Library.
Regarding data deposit, doctoral students are not, as a matter of
course, required to deposit the data underlying their thesis in our
Research Data Archive (or another repository), though they are welcome
to. But they may be required to deposit data as a condition of their
funding, and as with any other researcher they are required to deposit
data that underlies formally published research, data of particular
long-term value, and data that must be retained for legal/regulatory
reasons (e.g. patent applications).
Cheers,
Alex.
