Good morning,
I’m currently working with a team in our education department who are responsible for the administration of school governors.
Is there anyone out there who could offer guidance on how long we should be keeping the following types of records:
- School governor training records
- Individual personal details of each school governor
We are currently working with the team updating their forms and information processes to ensure that they are compliant with GDPR etc. As it stands they are keeping all these records for ever – and don’t want to put a retention on them.
Our retention periods for Council / School staff records are as follows:
- Personel files including training records
- Termination of Contract +6 years
- Members of staff who need a DBS – Termination of Contract +25
There is a gap currently in our retention schedule when it comes to records directly to do with the ‘employment’ of Governors, although we do cover key minutes, general records etc.
I would appreciate any advice and reccomendations.
