Lyn Richards of QSR responded to my praise of a product other than hers
by saying
> it occurred to me that "flexibility, creativity, visual, non-linear" work comes from researchers, not software.
First, she could have said something about me coming from the shallow
end of the gene pool. But no, she just raised the level of the
discussion. When kindness and intelligence travel together, they are
quite something, aren't they? Wish I had that mix in my temperament.
One of the advantages of choosing the products of her company (NUD*IST
and NVivo) is that you get to keep her company.
And her point is very accurate, in my experience. I was showing someone
Atlas the other day (Sorry, Lyn!) and after the demo the viewer said,
"Oh, I though the software FOUND the themes." All these software
products are basically devices for keeping track of what you find. The
finding is up to you.
