A three day short course "Principles of Health Protection" will take place
in the Department of Social Medicine, University of Bristol form 14-16
February 2007.

Deirdre Lewis, Joyshri Sarangi.
This short course has been revised to meet the learning needs of health
protection staff, public health trainees, specialists and consultants; as
well as the wider public health workforce including primary care teams,
public health nurses and environmental health officers. The course is now
presented in two parts:
Part One - Principles of Health Protection will be of interest to public
health trainees, general practitioners, public health nurses, environmental
health officers, infection control specialists and new Health Protection
Agency staff.
Course Outline: Topics to be covered will include:
Surveillance and epidemiology of infectious diseases and environmental
exposures;
Introduction to healthcare associated infection;
Investigation of single cases, incidents and outbreaks (including
radiation);
Introduction to emergency planning.
Teaching time will make up a total of fifteen hours, consisting of lectures
and practical sessions.
