Dear Pat,
I have not been able to pick up email for a couple of days, so I am just
reading the postings now. It seems to me that the most important thing
for you to focus on right now, is how you can take care of yourself; of
your feelings at this time. Recognise that perhaps at this time you
need a respite and not watch the news for a couple of days. Protect
yourself, if only for a short while from the images and reminders of
11th September. Then when you have had this R & R (Rest & Relaxation),
you will feel stronger, more resilient and more able to be there, not
only for yourself, but for others too.
You sound as if you are in great need of something that is called
'respite care'. Sometimes, the mind needs to just shut down, only when
the reminders are constantly there, and your emotions are raw and not
given some space to be soothed, burn out can happen really quickly.
God Bless
Amanda
