Sue
I use the GHQ within an NHS staff support service. I think it's very useful.
It's quickly administered, quickly scored and can be used in session to show
clients improvement. Crude instrument or not, it almost invariably shows
improvement after a few sessions. This looks good to purchasers.
I also believe it can be a useful "formative" tool, as it can help some
clients to identify some of the things that are bothering them, and possibly
"legitimizes" the reasons they have come, when they may be feeling guilty.
