Dear All
I would just like to make the community aware that there will be a NETWORKING EVENT held at the Teach First Offices at More London, London Bridge on thursday 30 June at 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The purpose of the event will be to discuss the difficulties in recruiting STEM graduates to the teaching profession, particularly within certain shortage subjects, and the effect this is having on education performance. The UK's performance internationally in Science and Maths education has been falling in recent times.
From a wider perspective, the event will be an opportunity to discuss the implications that a shortage of high quality teachers will have for the future of the UK economy. Currently, 52% of businesses have stated that they will struggle to recruit STEM graduates within the next three years. This is not necessarily a reflection of a lack of these graduates, but perhaps more about a disconnection between STEM undergraduate aspirations and STEM careers.
This will be a great opportunity for any individuals or organisations that are interested in STEM education and STEM industry. Teach First will also be launching it's own findings in this area.
If you are interested in attending this event or would like to find out further information then please contact Adam Lewis at [log in to unmask] by FRIDAY 24 JUNE.
Many Thanks
