Y Touring is looking for facilitators to work on their National Science and Engineering Week project Mind the Gap. Facilitators will need to lead a discussion with a scientist around ethical issues around neuroscience, with an audience of up to 150 young people.
Project overview:
Y Touring Theatre Company in partnership with the Royal Albert Hall’s Learning & Participation department and Picturehouse Cinemas will be performing Mind the Gap live in the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room and screening a live performance to eight cinemas round the country, as part of National Science and Engineering Week (NSAEW) and Brain Awareness Week 2011. Mind the Gap by Abi Bown, is a play encouraging debate around the ethical questions posed by advances in Neuroscience and the future of brain research. Following the play there will be a live debate with a scientist.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for experienced facilitators with a history of working with large groups/ audiences of young people and who has an interest in science communication.
Time requirements:
Training day in London (including seeing a rehearsal of Mind the Gap) –
Wednesday 9th March (subject to alteration)
Morning session in cinemas. (9 – 12.30 approx)
Cinema Locations: London, Norwich, Liverpool – Wednesday 16th March
Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton, Exeter, York – Thursday 17th March
Fees:
£200 (to include attendance at training and at one cinema)
Travel arrangements will be provided
