I think Andy's not having heard of the names Randolph mentioned is
precisely the sign of what Randolph meant by 'forced'. In Canada, I have
heard of most of them, but partly through the buffalo list, partly through
Randolph, partly through this list, partly through the poets in Canada I
know & admire who have connections with the more experimental writers in
the UK, & also through such anthologies as Conductors of Chaos, A Various
Art, & even the new british poetry antho with four sub anthos in it. Plys
we were lucky enough to get Tony Lopez here to read once, as also with Tom
Raworth, who's long had a large US connection (but there too with certain
poetry scenes, while utterly ignored by others).
David Latane's cynicism re recent US anthologies also strikes a chord in
this regard, alas...
