As somone who read The White Goddess way back when, I have to say that,
yes, of course, it would be a Good Thing to insist upon Discipline &
Learning in our bards, but
BUT
one of the big problems with Graves & his approach to 'the Muse' was the
fact that it allowed for no female poets, & given how many great ones there
have been from almost the very beginning (Sappho), this tiny, unimportant
(of course) slip did, finally, lead me to wonder if perhaps his grand
design wasn't just a wee bit, um, false...?
