naaa...
urgency isn't always suffering... joy has its urgency too.
in the spirit of Alison's 'most striving is failure'... here's a cheerful
little failure that might raise a smile...
Flourless Cake
Measure and mix,
add, stir and bake;
the kitchen sings -
she's making a cake.
Sun through the window,
flour in her hair,
the oven is warm,
fragrant, the air.
Wash the dishes,
lick a finger,
cakes like these
make visitors linger.
Not a whole lot of suffering here. But, then, this plain pleasure has impact
only because of the experiences at the other end of the spectrum. Once THEY
are tasted, an afternoon in the kitchen becomes sheer joy.
