Converting files into eBooks and PDF files (with Adobe 4.0) is also now
free. There are many sites, such as fatbrain (overseen by Katie Degenesh
(sp?)) -- others Sheila Murphy surely knows about -- I think maybe the eBooks
site itself, Coach House Books, etc., which enable one to sell these files
for a few dollars.
I can see this replacing back issues of journals, chapbooks/pamphlets, the
idea of something going out of print, and review copies. Of course, our
listowner's projects are another solid application.
I am currently wondering about pamphlet publishing, myself -- I haven't seen
any hard copy I couldn't do better on my home computer -- at least poems free
and online people read. I suppose the point is that the poetry market just
hasn't adjusted. To get a reading in LA it seems to take a
pamphlet/chapbook, preferably printed out on someone else's laser printer.
