On afterthought, Martin, I'm quite inclined to agree that there is a hint of
inflation about some of my comments, but matters like 'retrospective
blandness' do stem from a situation where a magazine editor has had repeated
requests for removal of material published without consent, but has evaded
almost all direct questions, one of us was allowed to have an objection
published, and I guess they did that cos they suddenly feared she was
someone with 'status', rather than the genuine reasons for the piece's
inclusion, which I suspect highlights the value-system of that crowd.
But the distortions are still out there, and even defended by some.
And there are promises of more to come.
