Probably shorthand for a Kalshnikov (which they're handcrafting on the
Afghan/Pakistan border).
Geez, Matt McGuinness had the (one and only) high-powered sniper-scope rifle
at the time (early seventies), and they were chanting, in the Bogside, "Duck
your head, Matt is here."
About that time, I was working for telecoms in London, so I was a (semi)
legit target for the the Provos (+Not+ the Real IRA, who came in +much+
later) so maybe I have just a little street cred on this.
LATER: The SSK +does+ seems to be a semi-automatic 45 Kalashnikov clone, but
who the hell cares?
Oh, BLUP!!!
Robin.
