thank you for drawing up this picture Ken. it's humbling to read of such
brain-fuckingly unjust treatment, especially in a country where a humane
healthcare system is not only taken for granted but overidealised. taxes are
high, so healthcare is cheap; but my uncle, now around 40, had to wait years
& years for finnish healthcare to do anything about his drug addiction, &
once he got it he was spurned & treated as a criminal. not to mention he is
now addicted, not to heroin, but to the methadone that was supposed to help
him recover.
another friend, whom I've mentioned, has debilitating CFS & finnish
healthcare won't even acknowledge it as a disease, & tells her curtly to
shut up & get a job.
it's the same story in every country. different versions, characters,
milieus, degrees. but it's all fucked up.
