Apologies for cross-posting
Dear Alll
OR in Sport stream at OR47
REMINDER
Stream Definition
Sport is a significant branch of the entertainment industry, and interest in
it is growing, both among the general public and among operational
researchers. There are opportunities for modellers to work with the sports
industry, tackle interesting decision problems in this industry, to publish
research applied to sport, and to generate good publicity for OR and
Statistics. The so-called "Duckworth Lewis method", used for setting revised
targets in rain-interrupted one-day cricket matches, is a case in point.
Sport itself requires little definition; we just note that the terms sport
and the sports industry will be interpreted liberally and contributions are
welcome for a broad range of sports, games and pastimes, from a broad range
of perpectives.
You can now submit your title and abstract online at
www.theorsociety.com clicking on SUBMIT YOUR PAPER TITLE on the right hand
side of the front page. Titles and abstracts are required by the end of
April at the latest if they are to appear in the conference brochure.
Seven papers have been submitted so far so there been a good deal of
interest in the stream. I hope you will be able to present as well.
Regards
Phil
