Dear all,
I hope this finds you all well.
Apologies for cross-posting.
The Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute Special Interest Group (SIG) on Ocean Justice would like to warmly invite you to a panel discussion on Ocean Justice on Thursday 29th February 2-4pm GMT. The panel, consisting of leading scholars, activists and practitioners from different disciplines and backgrounds, will consider the idea of “Ocean Justice” in a multifaceted and intersectional manner. They will explore ocean justice in court (with a focus on the ITLOS hearing on climate change); ocean justice and ocean crime; science and coastal communities; law, art and the ocean; and the need to unlearn and decolonise western episteme in Ocean Science and Governance. The event will be hybrid.
Our panellists are:
• Aphiwe Moshani (Marine governance and coastal livelihoods researcher, One Ocean Hub)
• Mekhala Dave (Ocean law and policy analyst/legal researcher, TBA21–Academy/PhD Candidate in Curation at University of Applied Arts Vienna)
• Marta Puxan Oliva (Senior Researcher, Universitat de les Illes Balears/Ocean Crime Narratives Project)
• Gustavo Goulart Moreira Moura (Oceanography, Universidade Federal do Pará)
• Sébastien Duyck (Senior Attorney, Campaign Manager Human Rights & Climate, Climate & Energy Program, Center for International Environmental Law)
Please feel free to circulate the event description and registration with any interested colleague and friend, everyone is warmly welcome.
See more details below and on the registration form here: https://forms.office.com/e/ZHZv5UchSy.
