Hi Dawn
I am currently involved in a community project involving the local
council, Trust BHF and the local health board - the prevention of CHD,
Cancer and Stroke. I have opted to offer on site cholesterol testing to
our employees and the reason is to link in with the community and
identify any health issues before medical/surgical intervention is
needed. I currently offer staff MOT's (timetabled due to time of course)
and this involves B/P, HT, WT, body fat readings, work/home life,
stress, blood glucose, urinalysis and general advise on a healthy life.
If you want more information, let me know.
Regards

Can anyone tell me their feelings and point me in the way of any
research that has been done regarding a cholesterol screening programme
in the workplace? I am a bit of an occ health purist and would never
willingly offer this service - (there is usually plenty OH stuff to be
done without this and I think it is more the role of the practice
nurse). However, I could inherit a programme currently up and running
and would like to know more about the benefits and downfalls and its
place in OH,
many thanks
Dawn K
