David
Have you completed a trial of the safer devices in any areas at all as this is useful to audit? My trust did a trial in the A&E unit and we found that staff sustained more sharps injuries.

David,
Have you tried your local GUM clinic regarding this? I know ours use a 'safer' needle system. They may be able to assist you with that. If I can help any further let me know.
Regards
Naz
P.S. Say Hi to Christine Lloyd - Jennings from me please!!

Subject: NHS NEEDLESTICK INJURIES?
Dear ALL,
Especially those in the NHS,
I am currently preparing a business case for presentation to our Trust
board on safe replacement needle systems.
It appears that the changeover is likely to quadruple cost to the trust.
I have had input from BD which has enabled us to put a positive aspect
to this but would like to know whether any trusts out there have
converted to safe needle systems or whether anyone has previously
prepared a business case for this which they might be able to share with me.
Also any other feedback which you feel might be of use to me.
I will be happy to feedback and provide copies of the business case once
completed in exchange
thanks in anticipation
David
