Research on COLD MOLECULES will be the new focus at the Institut für
Experimentalphysik of the Technische Universität Graz, Austria. The program is
part of the new European Union Research Network “Cold Molecules: Formation,
Trapping, and Dynamics” starting September 1, 2002. With the move of Professor
Wolfgang Ernst from Penn State University to Graz, a number of university
positions have become available.
One project is concerned with the study of cold atomic and molecular collisions
in traps, the formation of atomic Bose Einstein condensates, the investigation
of their interaction with molecules as well as the development of methods to
create a molecular condensate and a Superchemistry of coherent atoms and
molecules.
Open position for immediate start:
„Wissenschaftlicher Assistent“ (junior faculty position for 6 years with the
expectation of Habilitation during this period), prerequisite: successful
doctorate in physics or physical chemistry, good knowledge in AMO physics or
experimental physical chemistry and experience with lasers, atomic and
molecular beams and/or atom traps, desirable: postdoc time with an
internationally renowned group.
This university position implies some amount of teaching in German language.
Citizens of one of the EU countries are favored.
Graz, the second largest city of Austria, lies south-east of the Alps with
