There is a take note dated 1867 at Caernarfon Record Office of Court,
Aberdaron, to the Sims brothers of Calstock, Cornwall.
Presumably this would relate to the Pompren barytes mine - can anyone
confirm this? I would have thought they would have been more interested in
manganese in this area - did they have any interests in the manganese mines
at Rhiw & Benallt.
The Sims had many interests in mines in East Cornwall & West Devon, both
manganese & other metals, which is well documented; their Chillaton &
Hogstor mines were to become for a while perhaps one of the most profitable
mining undertakings in Britain. Does anyone know if they had other
interests outside that area?
