There are references to the use of North American lead-silver
smelting technology in Queensland and northern New South Wales
(Australia) in the 1880s and 90s, particularly the Pacific Smelter
which appears to have originated in California, but use of the
technology apparently gave mixed results in Australia.
I would be interested to hear of any contemporary accounts (published
and unpublished) of the development and use of the Pacific Smelter in
North America.
