The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin announces
five postdoctoral fellowships for up to two years,
beginning in
fall 2007.
1. One fellowship, beginning 1 October 2007, in Department III
(headed by Hans-Jörg Rheinberger). Projects related to the history
and epistemology of the life sciences are particularly welcome.
2. Four fellowships, beginning 1 September 2007, in Department II
(headed by Lorraine Daston). Projects should relate to the history
and/or philosophy of scientific observation, in either the natural or
human sciences.
Outstanding junior scholars (Ph.D. awarded no earlier than 2002) are
invited to apply. Fellowships are endowed with a monthly stipend
between 1.900 and 2300 € (fellows from abroad). Women are especially
encouraged to apply. The Max Planck Society is committed to employing
more handicapped individuals. Qualified candidates with relevant
projects may submit applications to both departments. The fellowships
are open to candidates of all nationalities. The colloquium language
is English.
