COMMUNICATING WAR : STRATEGIES, IMPLICATIONS AND ETHICS.

This cross disciplinary one-day conference aims to explore the processes of
communicating war, specifically the gathering, production and dissemination
of information about war and conflict through the media. What are the
strategic, ethical and consequential dimensions of these communication
processes for the media, for the military and for the political organisation
of war?
The day will be organised around two connected topics. The first half
focuses on the communication of war through and by media organisations
through themed sessions on:
* Media Practice and Discourses of War
* Credibility in and through Media Communication
* Communicating War through History and Memory
The second half will address the military and political communication of war
in the media through themed sessions on:
* Information War
* War, Terrorism and the Media
Participants include members of the academic, journalistic and defence
