We are looking for someone to teach my BA Media Studies year 1 module 'The Soundtrack of Media Culture' (weekly lecture + seminar) in term 1 AY 2014/15, with teaching starting in the week commencing 6th October and term ending 6th February (University of Brighton).
The module summary is: "This module introduces the field of sound studies with a focus on media. The notion of the 'soundtrack' guides an exploration of sound and music in global media culture. The range of sound and media technologies discussed includes iPods, mobile phones and computer games. Students gain a critical understanding of concepts such as 'soundscape', 'listening', 'sound branding', and the use of music to organise public and private spaces. The module considers sound and music in a variety of contexts including the football stadium, the shopping mall, urban space and the countryside."
This would be an hourly paid lecture opportunity to cover my sabbatical.
Please contact me (Frauke Behrendt, [log in to unmask]) directly by the 8th of August at the latest (but ideally today, 18th July) if you are interested or know someone who might be.
Kind regards,
Frauke
