Hourly Paid Lecturer and/or Course Manager Digital Media (Downview Prison)
Hourly Paid Lecturer and/or Course Manager Radio (Downview Prison).
We are seeking CVs from appropriately qualified digital media and radio
professionals and teachers to manage and develop the Learning Centre for the
Prison Media Project and BTEC National Awards to be delivered at Downview
Prison, Surrey. Downview is a women’s prison, and the project is scheduled
to begin in late February 2006. The project is expected to build upon the
success of the Prison Radio Project which is currently running at Wandsworth
Prison.
The Prison Media Project will be run in association with the educational
media consultancy, Radio for Development. The Prison Media Project will:
enable students to study for BTEC National Awards in Radio and Digital
Media; enable students to run a talk-based radio station, and to develop an
Intranet site and newsletter for the prison community; and help students to
produce and develop CDs and videos of benefit for the prison community. The
project also includes a Prison Outreach project, which aims to support and
build on the achievements of those participants who have just been released.
The project is also supported by The Women’s Library at London Metropolitan
University.
The post-holders will have primary responsibility for development and
co-ordination of the project, and a major role in the delivery and quality
management of this programme. It will contribute to a successful portfolio
of Media programmes that currently run in the Department of Applied Social
Sciences at London Metropolitan University. The appointees will be required
to offer particular specialist expertise in media, with particular expertise
in radio, video and digital media area. There is a possibility of full time
posts developing from this work.
