Hi Jane,
You might want to have a look at
http://www.eyeliner3d.com/peppers_ghost_history.html - which is a modern
3D pepper's ghost technology that allows you to mix AV/live and 3D
action with objects in a similar way to the traditional pepper's ghost.
I believe that the scale on which this can be done can be impressive.
Another obvious theatrical device is the Fog Screen - just have a look
on Google for one of the multiple companies selling this now. I am not
absolutely convinced this would work in a gallery environment, but it
definitely has a magical feel to it, as well as being interactive
to-boot. It might however become a little too common-place to be of much
impact.

Hi all
This is a bit esoteric, but I've been thinking about the use of
interaction design in a physical installation in a gallery and wondered
if anyone had seen any interesting ideas that created a sense of magic
and theatricality?
Basically we're working on the brief for a new space which will combine
physical reconstruction and av/interaction and I'm trying to work out
how to give it some magic rather than being a predictable 'show'.
Any ideas, however mad, gratefully accepted.
