I am particularly pleased to highlight one of the research awards for applicants looking to undertake PhD research, with me, in the area of digital heritage.

Specifically, the digital heritage award is offered to support candidates aiming to investigate museums' online performance. Whilst applications are encouraged on any aspect of museums' use of the Web, the School particularly welcomes proposals that consider approaches for measuring the value and impact of online digital culture. Proposed research might engage with any of the following: what data museums' are currently returning to demonstrate the usage of their web-based resources, and the robustness of this data; how visitors use (and what expectations they have of) museum websites; how, more generally and widely, users are engaging with heritage and culture online (beyond museum websites) and how this might impact upon the strategies museums use to frame their own content; and how museums might understand and evidence their impact within a more distributed Web 2.0 environment of social media and user-generated content. This scholarship forms part of the School of Museum Studies' partnership with Culture24, and, consequently, during the research the successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute directly to (and draw from) this international initiative to improve the way that online cultural activities are evaluated. The project will be supervised by Dr. Ross Parry.
The deadline for applications to the School is **31 January**.
With regards,
Dr. Ross Parry
