Dear colleagues,
the Middle East Virtual Library - MENALIB
http://ssgdoc.bibliothek.uni-halle.de/vlib/html/
has added to its services the periodical contents database
MENAcontents. This database currently contains tables of contents
(TOC's) of 121 scholarly periodicals related to Middle East and
Islamic studies with approximately 19.000 articles. More TOC's
of journals published in Latin and in Middle Eastern scripts will
be added in the future, using an automated method based on the
UNICODE character set. The database has been designed to
encourage cooperative work on Middle East related TOC-services
in the future: libraries all over the world can contribute by
feeding in / scanning in, via web-interface, TOC's of periodicals
and information on their actual holdings of the titles, so that
orders can be sent directly to the library that has a particular
item in stock.
Another database offered by MENALIB is also open to contributions
by scholars, students and librarians alike: ALMISBAH - MENALIB's
database of relevant Internet resources for Middle East studies.
To find out more about MENAcontents, ALMISBAH, and other tools
available now or in the near future, please go to MENALIB's
homepage
http://ssgdoc.bibliothek.uni-halle.de/vlib/html/
The homepage also provides information on current partners,
objectives and plans for the future of MENALIB.
Please add MENALIB's homepage to your list of important links for
Middle East and Islamic studies and contact us if you are
interested in joining this network of Middle East related
information providers.
And finally, please take 5 minutes to fill in our current user
questionnaire:
http://141.48.65.235/userquest/html/quest_en.html
Your feedback will help us improve information services in
Middle East and Islamic studies.
Many thanks, L. Wiederhold
