A huge thank you to everyone who responded to my request regarding the use of VR technology in libraries. I’ve collated all the responses I received below for anyone else who may be interested.
A good place to start is the webinar that is available on Emerging Technologies Group pages of the KFH website https://kfh.libraryservices.nhs.uk/emerging-technologies-group/ this includes some very interesting case studies- I had several people email regarding this link so many thanks to those who did.
The Bodleian have been lending VR equipment to their users for quite some time further information can be found here https://libguides.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/vr -Thank you to Catherine at the Bodleian for this information.
Hull Institute of Learning and Simulation are using and producing VR content more information available on their website http://www.heyhils.co.uk/
Oxford Medical Simulation provide a package of VR content which utilises Oculus Rift headsets. https://oxfordmedicalsimulation.com thank you to Megan at York Teaching Hospital for this.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals are planning on using with a 360 camera to develop local scenarios and patient experience simulations with their Sims Team- Thank you to Susan for this and the speaker’s notes regarding the project.
Thank you to John at Lancaster University for his paper ‘Opportunities and Drawbacks of VR devices in Health libraries, a summary of possible use case scenarios for stand alone Oculus Go Devices’.
