Copyright is an increasingly complex problem for information providers. An
awareness of the many pitfalls is vital the efficient management of information
services. Whatever area you work in you will come across copyright as a live
issue and need to understand how to handle the challenges it poses. At the end
of the day you will have a firm understanding of what problems you may face and
be able to alert colleagues to possible problems and also advise your

A basic understanding of copyright highlights just how complex an issue it is.
Knowing how the law works is just the beginning but you need to be able to map
basic concepts new and innovative information delivery systems and technologies.
After this day's training you will have a grater understanding of how to
interpret the law and how to put in place management systems that take account
of the rapidly changing techniques used for information storage and delivery.
Copyright is an issue that will not go away and a working knowledge of it will
be a valuable additional element in any CV or job. Please note: The emphasis
will be on UK Copyright Law.

Making an impact on the Board and raising the profile of Information in your
organisation
This session will offer ideas on how information managers can catch the
attention of the Board, and get recognition for the value of their service's
contribution to organisational objectives. It will look at methods of
identifying people with whom to collaborate, and dealing with areas where there
may be conflict. There will be a chance to share learning from real experiences
of winning resource for information services, and to gather some tips and
techniques for ensuring they have a genuine and visible impact on organisational
performance.
