Colleagues,
As part of a series of value-added initiatives, INDEX TO THESES (half a
million British and Irish theses online) has announced a series of flexible
new subscription options to complement its recent expansion of coverage,
which includes:
- a back file covering theses dating back to 1716, bringing the
current online collection total to nearly 500,000 theses listings
(www.theses.com);
- the addition of 44,000 new abstracts covering the period 1970 –
1985, bringing the total of abstracts available in the collection to nearly
250,000;
- improved searching linking old and new university names;
- increased annual publication cycle from the committed 4 times to up
to 8 times to cope with increased submissions.
Until recently INDEX TO THESES was available as a combined print/online
subscription but, in response to user needs, from 2006 customers may
dispense with the print or online editions subscribing to either the print
edition, the online service, or continue with the combined offering. A
perpetual license, providing ongoing access to the back file is now also
available.
The INDEX TO THESES service remains unmatched, both in coverage and cost,
and its collection of nearly half a million British and Irish theses is
recognised as an exceptional research tool by libraries all over the world,
by providing unrivalled access to this valuable area of postgraduate
research work.
