Dear colleagues
TASI is pleased to announce a one-day seminar entitled Effective Use
of Digital Images in Education Resources. We would be grateful if you
could pass on this message to any who might be interested.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday 29th June 2005 at the
University of Bristol. Its purpose is to investigate some of the key
issues surrounding the use of digital images in teaching and
learning. It is primarily aimed at further and higher education
teaching and lecturing staff, learning technologists and educational
support staff, but will be suitable for anyone tasked with creating
educational resources.
Seminar Objectives
Presentations throughout the day will address the technical,
conceptual and practical issues surrounding obtaining and delivering
images. Presenters will endeavour to share best practice and
disseminate current resources and approaches.
This seminar aims to address the following issues:
- To explore the impact of images on learning
- To demonstrate possible resources for sourcing appropriate images
- To outline the copyright issues that arise when using found images
for educational purposes
- To highlight methods and software that can be used to create
teaching resources
- To discuss and demonstrate effective models for embedding images
into teaching materials
- To investigate how current technologies can to utilised to improve
access and availability to images
Discussion Activity
Delegates will play an active role in the seminar. In the afternoon
there will be a breakout session where delegates can join discussion
groups of their choice. The purpose of these groups is to give
delegates an opportunity to voice specific concerns and issues, to
share information and to provide feedback that will inform future
research and support areas for TASI.
Digital Imaging Clinic
Delegates will have the opportunity to ask practical questions about
using digital cameras and scanners, and image editing applications
via our Digital Imaging Clinic.
Costs & Bookings
Attendance for the seminar is charged at £75 per person.
Bookings can be made online: www.tasi.ac.uk/training/seminar1.html
