Developing an institutional repository : issues and challenges
Monday 27th June 2005 10am-4pm
Business School, Level 2,
Gilbert Scott Building,
West Quadrangle
University of Glasgow
Institutional repositories, that is, "digital collections capturing and
preserving the intellectual output of a single or multi-university
community"* are in development across the world using a range of free and
commercial software such as EPrints.org and DSpace.
This one day workshop, run by the JISC funded DAEDALUS project, will provide
an overview of the issues and challenges which face staff in setting up
their own institutional repository service. It will provide an overview of
the open access movement and an update on the Scottish Open Access
Declaration launched on 11th October 2004. The workshop will also focus on
the key areas of Advocacy and Service Development in two parallel sessions
in the afternoon.
This event is free to all participants and includes a buffet lunch.
The workshop will draw on the project teams experience in the development of
its repositories in particular the Glasgow ePrints Service
[http://eprints.gla.ac.uk].
Who should attend?
This event will be of interest to Library and Computing staff in Higher and
Further Education responsible for the development of an institutional
