I do find a lot of "noise" on this and other lists, and by that I mean
information that I cannot use. But
this is the information age and I find the use of this list to resolve
real problems (and some
seemingly inane questions) quite innovative. To restrict its usage
because some are intolerant of the
"noise", defeats the object of using the Internet for informational
purposes. We should always
remember that we are all on this list because we do have an interest in
the issues facing libraries
in the UK.
I have personally found the list invaluable in determining the climate
and atmosphere in this sector
of society and I find the discussions often thought-provoking and
informative. This is especially so
because I spend most of my time outside the country and need to be aware
of the factors that are
of concern to librarians in the UK, even if these do not necessarily
relate to my spheres of interest.
