The Programme
Rebecca Mogg (Senior Subject Librarian Information Services, Bute
Library, Cardiff University) will be giving a presentation on Cardiff's
experiences of developing a podcast and the pedagogical benefits of
doing podcasting.
Ryan Danahar (Systems Support Officer, LCSS-LR, ESS Team, University of
Glamorgan) will be giving a presentation on how to use VPN to connect
from your home PC or Laptop to your work PC desktop, (so you can
actually use your work PC and all its software and systems from home),
in an environmentally friendly way.
Kevin McDonald (Senior Lecturer Faculty of Health, Sport and Science,
University of Glamorgan) will be giving a presentation and a hands on
demonstration of the TurningPoint voting system, (which I, (Steve Lee),
think could be very useful to give us instant feedback and test the
knowledge we impart in Library inductions and user education sessions).
This presentation will demonstrate the ease with which electronic voting
equipment can be used in teaching and learning. It will show that anyone
who can use PowerPoint can use TurningPoint. There will be interactive
voter participation showing some of the strengths, and weaknesses, of
the software and tips for how to tune the presentation to the purpose of
the user.
We also hope to have a presentation and demonstration of the INFORMS
tutorials database (Presenters to be confirmed).
There may be one other session.
The exact programme and timings will be sent out to all delegates mid
May
