We are pleased to announce the availability of Catalog #11. The catalog
consists of 800+ items. Those from the library of John Michaels
(proprietor of the Acorn Press, and an award winning designer) concentrate
on printers, calligraphers, designers and illustrators. Among many are
some fine examples of the work of Bruce Rogers, D.W. Dwiggins, Edward
Catich, Hermann Zapf; the Allen Press, the Doves Press, and the Officina
Bodoni; Raymond DaBoll, Rockwell Kent, and Thomas Bewick printed from the
original blocks.
Books from the joint library of Elizabeth Mongan (Lessing J Rosenwald's
first curator and the National Gallery of Art's Prints Curator) and her
sister Agnes Mongan (former director of the Fogg Museum) concentrate on
prints and manuscript studies, with strong emphasis on William Blake and
books related to Rosenwald's collecting interests.
Other strengths of the catalog include books on binding, printing and
publishing history, editing and scholarly research, book collecting and
collectors, bibliographic studies, and other aspects of the history of the
book.
