Dear Colleague
Netskills will be running the following workshops at the University of Manchester on March:
1. Accessibility, Usability & Your Web Site, 13th March
-----------------------------------------------------
Understanding the different ways that people interact the web is the key to being able to provide a better online experience for everyone - but there is still a tendency for developers to focus on solutions for users with visual impairment. This workshop will introduce a more holistic approach to making accessible, usable web content and key evaluation techniques that you can use on your own (and other people's) web sites.
2. CSS: A Complete Web Style Toolkit, 14th March
-----------------------------------------------------
This workshop and offers a complete, practical guide to the use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to deliver professional-looking, accessible and cost-effective web content. If you are familiar with the basics of HTML and are now looking to enhance the presentation of your web pages (or perhaps unravel the work of a previous developer!) you will leave equipped with a practical understanding of the most useful tools that CSS puts at your disposal.
3. Writing for the Web, 15th March
-----------------------------------------------------
What is so different about writing for the web?
The ability to write and re-purpose content for the web is an important skill. Visitors can abandon your site at the click of a button if they are not enticed by what you have written. This workshop will explore a range of proven practical techniques that you will be able to take away and apply directly to your own online content.
4. Dreamweaver: The Essentials, 20th – 21st March
-----------------------------------------------------
Macromedia Dreamweaver is a popular software package incorporating tools for web page creation and web site control and management. This 2-day workshop delivers an essential guide to the core features for the creation, formatting, management and updating of web page content. It is also possible to book on each day individually - for details see the booking form for this event.
5. Fundamentals of Flash 8, 22nd March
-----------------------------------------------------
Increasingly, web designers now wish to incorporate more than text and static images in their sites. Macromedia Flash provides a means of creating animated content that is optimised for web delivery. This can include elements such as animated graphics and text, as well as more sophisticated applications, such as tutorials and simulations.
