Joint UC&R Wales and Cilip Cymru Wales Marketing Your Services Event –
Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, Wednesday 3rd March 2010
Programme:
Morning: Visit to Welsh National Opera and Welsh Music Information Centre
(Ty Cerdd)
10.00–11am: Tour of the Welsh National Opera library and facilities with
Georgina Gouvier, Librarian and Ian Douglas, Company Manager.
The Welsh National Opera is a world-class touring opera company with a
permanent company of 250 people. The work of the Chorus, Orchestra,
principal singers, music staff and other creative teams is supported by a
strong administration. This includes departments specifically specialising
in areas including Development, Finance, Marketing, Media, Planning,
Technical and WNO MAX (www.wno.org).
11–11.30am: Tour of Welsh Music Information Centre. (Only limited places
available)
The Welsh Music Information Centre (WMIC) aims to support and promote all
genres of Welsh music. It collects and holds research scores of Welsh
composers, recordings of Welsh music and reference materials, and provides
an information service on music in Wales (www.wmic.org).
11.30am–1pm: Lunch break. Time to explore the Wales Millennium Centre and
Cardiff Bay catering facilities independently.
1pm–1.10pm: Introduction to the Marketing Workshop by Lloyd Ellis, Chair
of Cilip Cymru Wales.
1.10pm–3pm: “‘How do you like your eggs in the morning?’: a simple 7 step
toolkit for creating strategic marketing plans that really work.” Kay
Grieves, University of Sunderland. Venue: David Morgan Suite, Wales
Millennium Centre.
The Strategic Marketing Toolkit puts your customers at the centre of
service planning, delivery and promotion. Its 7 easy steps will help you
to create marketing plans that clarify distinct service offers, target key
customer groups and communicate the benefits of your services effectively.
Originally developed by University Library Services at the University of
Sunderland, the toolkit has now been employed for various purposes at
Sunderland and beyond, and has proved to be both highly accessible and
transferable.
The aim of today’s workshop is to share with you the concept of the
toolkit and its core techniques, so that you can translate it for your
own needs - ensuring your customers fully engage with your services and
that you are able to demonstrate the real difference you are making to
them.
This workshop, including tours and light refreshments, is available free
of charge thanks to sponsorship by Cilip Cymru Wales.
