your quote from the ATLAS page confused me greatly because one of the
main outcome of the discussions in the baseline service group was that
root access is not needed on the VO-BOX:

I had a look at ATLAS wiki page 5 minutes ago and it clearly says as
you can see: NO ROOT ACCESS

Connectivity
Login via ssh/gsi (no root access required)
Insecure and secure port available for apache server (for claims
service): (port 8000 and 8443 only)
Outbound http(s) access to DQ2 central catalogs
No external connection is needed to the MySQL DB at the site (access
via apache hosted services)
All messages are designed to be “TCP traced”: XML or "plain-text"
messages. Minimal traffic.
I wonder wether they changed this in the last day.....
