Dear Colleagues,
the Annual Central Mediterranean Prehistory Workshop will take place Weds. May 18th.
As many of you will know, this is an informal day of studies held in the UK which has been going for almost 20 years now. It is a chance for prehistorians working in the Central Mediterranean to tell each other about their ongoing research. Geographically, we encompass everywhere from the Balearics to the Adriatic and from the Alps to the Maghreb, and we have been known to stretch to Greece and Spain if time allows. Chronologically, anything from the Palaeolithic through the Iron Age is welcome. We usually have short reports and time for discussion. The group's ethos is to be informal and supportive, and the tradition is, if time is limited, to give priority in presenting their work to early career researchers.
This year, the seminar will be organised by Cambridge, but will take place remotely over Zoom, which allows participation by a geographically broader range of people. Part of the day will be dedicated to short (15-20 minute) presentations. Part of it will be dedicated to other formats; for instance, we would like to hold a session in which participants show one slide and talk for one minute about what they are currently researching, and there is time for open discussion, perhaps in groups, for people to follow up connections that interest them.
If you would like to participate, please get in touch with the organisers: John Robb ([log in to unmask]), Jess Thompson ([log in to unmask]) and Harriet Hunt ([log in to unmask]). If you wish to do a presentation, please send us a title and a short abstract, and if you wish to participate in a one-slide-one-minute what-I'm-up-to session, please just say so. If you wish to take part, please let us know by April 20.
Looking forward to seeing you there --
John Robb
