In the case of New Zealand, the New Zealand Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament
and Arms Control Act 1987 prohibits the entry into New Zealand's internal
waters by foreign warships carrying any "nuclear explosive device" and any
ship which is wholly or partly dependant on nuclear power. There is also a
prohibition on foreign millitary aircraft carrying nuclear explosive
devices landing in New Zealand.
The prohibitions do not apply to:
* ships exercising the right of innocent passage;
* ships or aircraft exercising rights of transit passage through or over
any strait used for international navigation; or
* any ship or aircraft in distress.

Depends on the kind of ship you are talking about. Ships powered by
nuclear reactors or carrying nuclear material are subject to stringent
conditions if they are let in at all. (Other) warships are also subject to
consent and conditions may be imposed. Merchant ships are of course
treated differently.
