On 21-23 October 1999, the Institute for the History of Technology and
Industrial Archaeology is holding an International Historic Bridges
Conference in Wheeling, West Virginia, USA, home of the 1849 Wheeling
Suspension Bridge.  Restoration of the historic span across the Ohio River
was completed earlier this month in celebration of its 150th anniversary.

Engineers, historians, and other scholars from around the United States and
Europe will present papers on a variety of topics described in the program
