Dear All,
We have today just placed the following advert on the Shropshire CC
website:-
Historic Environment Countryside Advisor
Shropshire County Council is an excellent council and aims to innovate in
the delivery of an improved quality of life to local people. In partnership
with English Heritage we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated
professional archaeologist with wide experience in rural land management to
provide advice and information to support farmers, landowners and community
groups.
This is an excellent opportunity for a team player who understands and
enjoys working in situations where excellent communication skills are
essential. You will be expected to advise applicants and liaise with the
relevant bodies on, for example the historic environment aspects of
Environmental Stewardship schemes, Forestry proposals and Woodland Grant
Schemes, as well as having the ability and drive to develop applications
relating to Historic Landscape Characterisation.
Applicants should have a degree in archaeology or a related discipline. A
working knowledge and interest in Historic Environment Records together
with proficiency and expertise in current IT applications including
databases and GIS is essential.
For an informal discussion, please contact Marie McLeish (Team Leader,
Environment, Mon-Wed) on 01743 252556.
