Re: value-for-money, why assume you need a locum for 2 days attendance at a
conference?
Think hard about what happens when you are absent: so 3 or 4 clinics don't
occur. Will patients notice? Does that really impact waiting times? I
doubt it.

Subject: Is anyone going to the International Clinical Summit 21 22nd
November
As part of Lord Dazai's review, there is going to be an International
Clinical Summit on 21/22 November (invitation only), mainly his Clinical
Leads and pathways group members. (For my sins I got involved with a
pathways group - general practice still grossly under-represented!)

I am trying to decide whether, at 2 days' locums or alternatively 2 days
annual leave, this represents VFM for the practice or for me
individually.
My assumption - and I could be wrong - is that when an Interim Report,
demanding extensive changes, is launched 3 months into what is supposed
to be a consultative process, the final report was written before the
interim one, and the conference is unlikely to produce any change to
existing plans - and therefore attendance is unlikely to be productive.
Is anyone on this list attending, or do you know anyone in general
practice who is?
If no-one does, I can see the headlines - "We tried, but clinicians -
especially GPs - refused to get engaged!"
