Last time this happened, with Accenture, there was a lot of warning and
the contracts were simply passed to another LSP - CSC.
The number of possible LSPs has shrunk - and the delay in delivering
Lorenzo - even at the most basic level - might makes me wonder whether
they have the capacity to deliver a single system to 4/5ths of the NHS
in England.
Think of the implications: SSEPRs (Single Shared EPRs) for everyone
living in England (apart from London) once they reach Lorenzo level 4 -
leading to clinical governance issues, a need to redefine the concept of
confidentiality (how confidential is a SSEPR when it is your *only*
medical record in any care setting?) and a situation where it is
impossible to change systems (goodbye GPSoC) in any area because of the
integration with every other organisation in the NHS and, if everything
goes to plan, social services as well!
All this in the name of progress...
